The six-slab structure is easy to miscalculate by hand
With six separate telescopic bands from ₹1.90 to ₹9.75/unit, manually estimating an AP bill is error-prone — small mistakes in which units fall in which band compound quickly.

How the APSPDCL bill is calculated
A fine-grained six-slab tariff
Andhra Pradesh uses an unusually detailed six-slab telescopic tariff for domestic (LT-1) connections, from ₹1.90/unit for the first 30 units up to ₹9.75 above 400. APEPDCL, APCPDCL and APSPDCL all follow the same unified APERC schedule.

How to read your meter
Digital meters show a running total in kWh ("units") on an LCD display — write down the number before the decimal point. Southern Power Distribution Company of AP Ltd (APSPDCL) was incorporated on 1 April 2000 to distribute electricity in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa districts, headquartered at Tirupati.
When Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated on 2 June 2014 to create Telangana, Anantapur and Kurnool districts were added to APSPDCL's territory. Coastal-north Andhra Pradesh, including Visakhapatnam, is served by a separate company, APEPDCL (Eastern Power Distribution Company).
